How to read Chinese EPUB books with a dictionary
A Chinese book is easier to work through when you can check an unfamiliar word without losing your place. LangSail brings your text, dictionary lookups, and vocabulary review into one reading workspace.
Start with a book you can import
Use an EPUB file with selectable Chinese text. LangSail also accepts text files and pasted passages. A scanned page is an image rather than readable text; choose a text-based edition for word lookup.
Open the Library and choose the import option. Select your EPUB, inspect the chapter list, and choose the sections you want to read. Starting with one chapter makes it easier to judge whether the book suits you.
Look up a word inside its sentence
Open an imported chapter in the Reader. Select an unfamiliar word to see its dictionary information and pinyin. Read the surrounding sentence before choosing a meaning: a dictionary may list several senses, and only some will fit.
For example, 看 can refer to looking, watching, or reading. In 我看书, the object 书 makes “read” the useful interpretation. Keep the sentence in view instead of treating each word as an isolated translation.
Use sentence help when a lookup is not enough
A sentence can remain difficult even when you recognize each word. LangSail offers sentence translation and learner breakdowns alongside dictionary lookup. Optional cloud features need a connection and show a disclosure before sending text for processing.
Try reading the sentence yourself first, then use the explanation to check the part you could not resolve. Return to the original Chinese once you understand it.
Keep reading and revisit useful words
Mark familiar vocabulary as learned so your progress reflects what you recognize. Use Review to revisit vocabulary, and return to your chapter to meet those words in context again.
