Chinese reading guide

Read Chinese offline in your browser

LangSail keeps your reading workspace on your device. Once the app and language resources have downloaded, you can read saved texts, look up words, review vocabulary, and track progress without a connection.

Prepare while you are connected

Open LangSail online, let the Chinese language resources download, and import the books or texts you want to read. Open a saved chapter and check that word lookup works before going offline.

Try opening that chapter again with your connection turned off before relying on it for a journey. A first visit still needs the network to download the app and its resources.

Install it if you want a home-screen shortcut

You can keep using a browser tab or install LangSail as a web app. On iPhone or iPad, open it in Safari, use Share, and choose Add to Home Screen. Other browsers may offer an install option in the address bar or browser menu.

Installation provides a convenient way to open the workspace. It does not replace downloading your reading materials or backing up your library.

Know which tools need the network

Saved reading, downloaded dictionary resources, vocabulary review, and progress work locally. Cloud translation, AI explanations, learner breakdowns, neural voices, and account synchronization need a connection.

Device speech depends on the voices your browser and operating system make available. Check the voice you plan to use while offline rather than assuming every installed voice works without the network.

Keep a copy of your reading materials

Browser storage belongs to this browser and device. Clearing site data removes the local workspace. Keep the original books and texts somewhere you can recover them.

An optional account can back up and synchronize your library and progress. Reconnect and allow synchronization to finish before depending on another device to have your latest changes.

Prepare your offline library
